I find them a little richer and fuller (excluding the twang-to-shrill possibilities of a bright bridge pickup); Strats, on the other hand, to my ears have a softer attack, a more rounded, looser sound and a little more bounce. Finish checking (cracking) leads to finish flaking. You paid a premium to artificially advance that process. You’re getting exactly what you paid for.
