Kawasaki vulcan 800 problems.

Idles ok, backfires through the carb with light throttle.I would think it's a lean condition, but it dies on the choke. Pulls pretty good at wot. Any ideas. Update, I turned the idle screw in to 1 1/2 out, was alittle better. Backfiring went down a little. The problem I am having is that on cold start it stalls as soon as soon as you put it in 1st gear and the bike starts moving. It usually takes several attempts at revving really high on the throttle to finally get it going so that it doesn't stall.Also if the cable connectors at the battery have not been cleaned that also could cause electrical difficulties. Some owners also have reported dirty and insecure fuse connections. Heat will increase electrical resistance and a dodgy connection problem will make matters worse. If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem. Fingers are crossed - but at least after this I know I will have all of the carby puzzle pieces.

Having a problem getting a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 started. It has been parked in a garage for about five years. The battery has been changed, the choke has been set for starting and the engine is being turned over by the starter.

Section 16-78 covers inspection, removal, and installation of a new sensor. The alternator is in the crankcase and blow-by from the piston rings will pressurize the case if it can't vent. I don't know the 800 engine, but a blowup of the engine should show you where the vent is.
