There's no need to do a Reset, in fact, if the gateway has any customizations done (like maybe the installer changed the SSID or wifi password) then this is a terrible idea as those changed will be wiped out. Restarting the gateway by unplugging the power cord and then plugging it back in is exactly what needs to be done.
