My Schiit List includes: Modi Multibit, Fulla 3, (stacked Schiit: Magni 3/IEMagni, Loki Mini+, Modi 3), Lokius, Bifrost 2/64, and Gungnir A2 Unison. The Modi E's analog stage is based on a OP1656 chip while the Modius E has two totally separate output stages. Just a tad more advanced IMO, and again both outputs are active at the same time. Balanced vs only SE outputs. And Schiit added AES as well. Schiit Audio sent me both these amps for evaluation and review. In short, both these amps were excellent with all the regular headphones I plugged in to them, and near silent with even Campfire Audio's Andromedas (on low gain). It actually took me using unrealistically demanding headphones (HiFiMan's Susvaras) to get them to struggle.I remember a time when Schiit was vehemently against dacs and amplifiers sharing one body. Fast forward nearing the better part of a decade later, and we have Schiit releasing serious amplifiers with op-amps (something they were not about), and dac/amps in form of the Fulla, Hel, and even add-in dac cards for their bigger amplifiers.

Vali2 isn't stereotypical rolled off at the top tube sound but it's not as sharp in the treble - basically a safer choice for the HD800. It doesn't need as much power as what you can get out of the Magni2 Uber and Magni3 anyway. Also the Modi2 Uber+Vali2 stack will take up less space on your desk.

Another that can be found at that price used is the HD-700 it is much maligned and underrated here on Head-Fi but is a fantastic headphone. I don't want to schiit on schiit but Asgard 3 blows this amp out of the water in everyway. And no balanced won't help, I fed it with Bifrost 2 and used balanced out. I haven't heard that many lower end Schiit integrateds. It's not as good as the Lyr, but its a lot cheaper.
