There are no tax penalties on anything you do in a TFSA. If you want to purchase an equity on an OTC market and are able to do so and hold it in your TFSA, that's all on you--anything in a TFSA is tax-free, period. As others pointed out, OTC means it's not on a listed exchange. That's a red flag right there.
