When this tractor was evening used daily we never had any trouble with the steering. Now that it only gets used very little we have steering trouble. Is this problem in the steering column or would it be in the pump?Jan 24, 2017. #1. My dad is working on a John Deere 4020. His three point hitch won't raise. Clean the elbow. Apply Loctite to the threads of the R39075 seat and install the check valve assembly into the elbow. Then reinstall the elbow on the tractor. The original service info says the parts are: R39075 seat, D2361R ball, R39078 spring, and R39076 guide. When I bought the parts, the seat number delivered was R68553.

You can do this behind the dash by taking off the hood cowl (I think that's what it's called). It has a threaded end so it can be shortened. 4020 Brake Valve Problems. I have an early 4020 and I just put an overhaul kit in the brake valve. I put everything back together following my JD service manual. Then I bleed the brakes. Now the brakes are totally locked up. The tractor won't move.

Aug 30, 2013 · I mentioned couple weeks ago picking up a 4020 w/powershift at local auction. It was 1 owner but we knew the maint was very poor... Changing all fluids and filters --expecting to see some gremlins pop up. Our issue now is the powershift going forward works great. Reverse, not so much.

Further inspection revealed that the rear facing plug in the rocker arm shaft had shifted, cutting off the oil supply to a good portion of the top end.#1. 4020 synchro has a dry clutch and the tranny is not particularly notorious for jumping out of fear under ANY conditions unless badly worn. Make sure this tractor is 12V. Check the six weep holes on the left side of the block, make sure there's no sign of coolant discoloring the paint below the holes. The 4020 was a wet sleeve engine, they didn't tend to cavitate like IH engines but o-ring sealing problems were fairly common.

Jul 13, 2015 · The super 4020 title was a very accurate on for them. 18.4x38 tires are probably the most common size for them. The power difference between them and a 4020 is very noticeable. Without a turbo a 4020 will usually smoke very heavy once you push it to around 110 hp. With the turbo the 4320 can push up near 150 with very little difficulty. Good News....the original brake valve was rebuildable. It solved the entire problem and it stops great. No more wheel lock up. The JD 4020 is now ready to go back to work. SM-2039 from Deere is the right manual for your 4010 and the early 4020. I don't see any mechanism for the clutch to over center, but the manual says it latches.
