Mar 30, 2023 · Remove the carburetor from the vehicle and separate the air cleaner assembly. Remove the float bowl and spray with carburetor cleaner. Flush the bowl out with water and air dry. Check the bowl for debris and clean out if necessary. Clean the jets with the carburetor cleaner and compressed air. Replace any worn or damaged components.
Flooding on an Edelbrock carburetor is a situation where the float bowl is getting too much fuel and it is pouring over the top. Some of the causes, not in any order. Fuel pump pressure – test your fuel pump. New pumps are especially suspect. Should be 4 to 5 lbs. Bad float – heat some water and immerse your float.Just a quick simple & cost-effective DIY to free up Stuck or Siezed Carbs, throttle bodies…..A good way to free them up before sending out for actual rebuild...and slide your side bar down to the middle (Pg 13. of 26). Check the graph for the 1406 and look in the middle of the graph. That is #1, which the calibration that it comes out of the box. If you look below the graph, you'll see that #1 has a .098 main jet and a .075 x .047 metering rod.This is how I go through edelbrock carbs. To properly adjust the floats in the EPS carburetor, two procedures must be followed. First, invert the air horn cover (Figure 8) holding the air horn gasket in place.
