This happens to every broker at some point, even institutional brokers (i was an institutional broker to hedge funds and ias for over 7+ years) - it doesnt happen all the time but when it does, easy fix, have a backup. Im considering of having Tradestation as a backup but Tradovate will always be my main.
My only advice around the broker is to pick one that has a 24 hour trade desk with margins and commissions you can tolerate, but only if you’re using them for trades, not just data. As I said I don't use Tradovate, but basic data in CQG data in Ninjatrader is $12 a month, and it provides the main CME instruments, among many others. Either way, you are paying for market data. I suppose similar to the way that Samsung or Apple make phones, but the don't work without a carrier connection, which have separate contracts and fees.
