Third time I found a map with less trees (actually almost no trees), and normal biters. Things were going swell until I suddenly faced an angry biter mob. They kept coming and it became clear that it was a lost cause. Had a pollution cloud stretching far outside my visible area, so no wonder they were a bit mad. And then, the finale.
But the settings described are no longer there, some of it instead replaced by slider bars for ore "richness" / "size". This makes me wonder what else has changed. Map setting is no pollution and humongous amount of resources. This is already the second game, the first one failed because of blue chip bottleneck. Hi there, I wanted to complete all achievements using default settings, and I've just done my first attempt on there is no spoon but I kinda forgot about the biters and eventually they overwhelmed my base. Wanted to know how/when I should go take out nests quickly and in a way that doesn't take away too many resources!

honestly, it depends on your playstyle.
