From what I have noticed it can handle 8x16. They can handle 16x16 since each activity (ploughing, sowing, fertilizing, harvesting) can be done by only one farmer. You still have the same problem, which is 4 farmers having little to do when field work is done. You still have to reassign 4 farmers to barn work in both situation.If it is for the barn it refers to the production tab.
